Football tournament: En Avant Moris fires up the youth at Mont Roches
For the 2nd edition of its tournament, the party brought together more than 150 youngsters aged 14 to 16 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium. Joyeux Copains won the final against Doha.
In the fervour of the World Cup, En Avant Moris held a major youth football tournament for 14- to 16-year-olds on Sunday 15 June 2026, in partnership with the Stanley Sport Youth Club. Played at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Mont Roches, this 2nd edition was a resounding popular success.
The event brought together more than 150 youngsters in 12 teams: two sides carried the colours of Beau Bassin-Rose Hill, while the other ten travelled from every corner of the island. On the ground, the driving force behind the day — Sandir Saminaden, Rahim Dilmohamed and Olivier Prefumo — gave their all to ensure flawless organisation and the safety of every participant.
In his address, Patrick Belcourt, leader of En Avant Moris, praised the talent and discipline of the participants. He announced his intention to make the initiative a lasting, quarterly fixture, and encouraged young people to take up regular sport to flourish and become inspiring role models.
After intense matches played in an exemplary spirit of fair play, it was Joyeux Copains who claimed the champion’s title, beating the gallant Doha side in the final. The tournament’s best-player trophy went to young Milazar, of the Abercrombie club.
Through this day, En Avant Moris reaffirms its closeness to young people and its commitment to fighting social ills — drug trafficking foremost among them — by offering sport as a healthy, unifying alternative.
